Heavy freight transportation with Gelle Transport
Not every heavy load is oversized. Steel coils, plate, rebar, machinery, stone, cable reels and other dense freight can be within legal dimensions yet still challenge axle weights and securement. Heavy freight transportation focuses on loading, weight distribution and securement so these loads travel legally and safely.
Weight distribution and axle limits
Even when a load is under 80,000 lb gross, individual axle groups must stay within their limits — typically 12,000 lb on the steer axle and 34,000 lb on each tandem. Positioning the load correctly on the trailer keeps every axle legal and the truck stable.

Securement for dense cargo
Steel coils need cradles or coil racks and specific chain patterns; plate and machinery need blocking, bracing and rated chains. Federal cargo securement rules set minimums, and our drivers check securement before departure and during the trip.
